About Me

I was raised on southern charm, complete with sweet tea, Jesus, and "ya'll." I believe that laughter is the best medicine and true love has no strings attached. I believe in Christ, the risen Son of God. I believe in the SEC. I believe that Coke is better than Pepsi, chivalry is not dead, girls should be classy, pearls are a necessary accessory, red lipstick looks good with everything, and you can never have too many pairs of shoes.

I am a hog fan. Woo Pig Ya'll.

I am a lover of literature. I believe the world is a better place having been introduced to Harry, Ron, and Hermione; Jane and Mr. Rochester; Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy, and Laurie; John Snow, Ned Stark, and Daenerys Targaryen; Katniss, Gale, and Peeta; and many others. I believe in the Oxford comma. I believe everyone should read for fun at least once in their lives.

I am a teacher. I believe that teaching is a calling and not a choice. I believe the best teachers focus more on creating relationships with their students than creating lessons. I believe loving my students is the most effective way to do my job.

I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I believe the relationships we need to spend the most time cultivating are those with the people we love the most, instead of with those who can help us get where we want in life. I believe the family unit is the strongest part of a community.

I believe in love, and I believe in imperfection.

I hope you enjoy my blog!

  3. How do I follow your blog? Would prefer to get it via email if possible.

    1. On the home page there should be a place to put in your email address to subscribe - under the header at the top right.

    2. You have to be on the web version, not the mobile version. So, if you're on your phone, scroll all the way down to click "web version."

  4. Hi Rachel,I really love what you said about teaching being a calling and not a choice. And its more than true that teaching is more than about lessons plans and marking assignments.Big lesson for me.

  5. Hi Rachel - reading your blog was like running into a friend who loves the same things I do! Your list of characters in literature made me smile. Some of my best friends are the ones I've discovered in the pages of a book! My kids live in Bentonville AR and we love to visit the area! Keep writing
